Sunrisers Hyderabad have signed West Indies batsman Sherfane Rutherford for the remainder of IPL 2021. The middle-order batsman from the West Indies comes in as a replacement for opener Jonny Bairstow, who earlier today pulled out of the T20 tournament along with three other England players.
Rutherford, a hard-hitting batsman who made his name in the Global T20 first, has featured in only one IPL season. Back in 2019, he turned out for the Mumbai Indians and totalled just 73 runs across 7 games.
Rutherford, 23, is currently plying his trade with the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League and is having a good season. He’s scored 202 runs in 7 games including 3 fifties.
