Manchester Originals vs Birmingham Phoenix, 6th Match
Manchester Originals won by 6 wkts
A pretty dull day for the men in The Hundred. A washout at Lord's. A slow surface making life really difficult for batters, who just couldn't adapt to the conditions on offer. Tomorrow we move to Trent Bridge for a double header. The Trent Rockets host Northern Superchargers in the women's game first and then the men will take the field. Have a good night's rest and join us on the journey. Tata!
Jos Buttler | winning captain : Delighted to get the win. Having played the first game, it gave you an idea of understanding the 5-ball slots and 10-ball slots. Obviously with a lot of help for the bowlers, it was slightly easy to rotate the bowlers. It's been hot and it's a used wicket. I am sure the batters will hope for a fresh wicket next game and it's usually pretty good out here. But at times you are going to get wickets like these. As a cricketer at this level you just got to swallow your ego and find a way to do well.
Moeen Ali | losing captain : I thought the toss result was big. We didn't get the runs. 15-20 runs more, the game will have been interesting. Disappointed but wasn't easy at the same time. I felt it's a good wicket to sweep/reverse sweep. Everything else was difficult. Parky had his tail up and he bowled really well. I hurt my back slightly while turning to tun, Should be fune in maybe a week.
Parkinson, Player of the Match: It's been a slow season for me so far. To perform is fantastic. To build some momentum in the past 2 weeks has been great and to play on a used pitch was nice for a change here. Liam's obviously a fantastic player. Lovely to get one over him today. It's upto Jos really to see what the pitch is doing and the game situation as well (who will bowl set of 10).
20:07 Local Time, 19:07 GMT, 00:37 IST: A very poor show from the Phoenix. They played animating cricket yesterday, but they just couldn't handle a slow pitch and the Originals didn't disappoint the home crowd. Matthew Parkinson literally put this game in the bag with his 4 wicket haul. 88 was never going to problem Buttler and Co. They raced off to a good start. Took control of the middle overs and got home with as many as 27 balls left.
