Commentary

21:29 Local Time, 10:29 GMT, 15:59 IST: After 9 consecutive losses, Renegades have managed to open their account. Having posted a competitive score in the first innings, the Renegades' bowlers got them off to a superb start claiming three early wickets. The rain break helped them further as the required run rate after resumption touched the 13-run mark. Hales to an extent and Alex Ross towards the death overs tried his best, but even his blitzkrieg wasn't enough. Melbourne will be pretty pleased with this victory though. Qualifying for the playoffs looks improbable, but they still have four matches to go. Can they play similarly in their remaining matches? Well, we shall find that out over the next week or two. For now, you can switch tabs and follow the live action between Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Stars. Ciao!

SYT: 122-7 after 14 overs

13.6 Wildermuth to McAndrew, 2 runs, Melbourne Renegades have finally managed to get off the mark. They've registered their first win of the season. Better late than never! Bludgeons the fullish delivery to long-off for a couple of runs and that shall be it..

13.5 Wildermuth to McAndrew, FOUR, McAndrew finds the boundary, but it's too late now. A fullish delivery outside off and McAndrew drives it over covers for four runs, his first one of the night

13.4 Wildermuth to McAndrew, 2 runs, full toss outside off, McAndrew reaches out for it and slaps it down to long-off for a couple of runs

13.3 Wildermuth to Jonathan Cook, 1 run, high full toss by Wildermuth, but this one's just below the waist and Jonathan Cook clips it towards the on side for one

13.2 Wildermuth to Jonathan Cook, 2 runs, fullish delivery again, a low full toss, Jonathan Cook drives it to wide long-on for a couple of runs

13.1 Wildermuth to Jonathan Cook, 2 runs, low full toss by Wildermuth, Jonathan Cook drives it towards long-on for a couple of runs

Jack Wildermuth [2.0-0-5-0] is back into the attack

SYT: 109-7 after 13 overs

12.6 Christian to Ross, out Caught by Wildermuth!! That's the killer blow, Christian finishes his spell with a 3-wicket haul. A fullish delivery outside off, Ross reaches out for it with a slice and miscues it towards cover. Wildermuth sprints back and takes a good diving catch. That also brings an end to Ross' entertaining knock. Ross c Wildermuth b Christian 51(27) [4s-3 6s-4]

Christian to Ross, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

12.5 Christian to Ross, 2 runs, fifty for Ross but the required run rate is getting out of reach. Christian keeps this one full and wide outside off, and although the batsman shimmies down the wicket, he can do nothing much about it. Jams this one towards long-off, puts pressure on Nabi and manages to come back for two

12.4 Christian to McAndrew, 1 run, on a length around off, McAndrew swings this one through mid-wicket for one

12.3 Christian to Ross, 1 run, lovely bowling by Christian as he's nailing his slower yorkers to perfection. Even the set batsman couldn't do much about this one, getting an inside edge onto his pads as he swung across the line

12.2 Christian to McAndrew, 1 run, yorker around middle and leg, McAndrew squeezes it through mid-wicket as he swings hard

Nathan McAndrew, right handed bat, comes to the crease

12.1 Christian to Lenton, out Bowled!! And the pendulum swings again. Christian delivers a slower one, this one dips into the batsman and Lenton fails to read it. A touch too early in his flick and the ball uproots the furniture. 31 needed off 11 balls. Renegades in the driver's seat even after that huge over. Lenton b Christian 2(2)

Christian to Lenton, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!

Daniel Christian [1.0-0-9-1] is back into the attack

SYT: 104-5 after 12 overs

11.6 Nabi to Ross, no run, nope, he can't! Nabi bowls a yorker and the batsman can do nothing more than digging it back to the bowler
