Summary Scorecard

The versatility of Pakistan's bowling attack can rattle any side in the world and they were at their very best today. Australia's skipper, Finch called the batting effort, embarrassing. And indeed it was embarrassing. Can Australia recover from the damage that this loss would have inflicted on them? We will find out in second T20I. Join us for that. Until then, this is Varun Dixit signing off on behalf of Sriram and Naga.

Sarfraz Ahmed, winning captain: Our bowling attack is good so we back them to defend a total. We want hitters like Asif Ali to take some time and then go for big shots. The partnership between Babar and Hafeez was crucial for us. We knew, if we make 160, we will be in the game. We want to take wickets in powerplay and we did that today. Imad was superb in his comeback match. The hitting done by Hasan Ali in the death overs dragged the total over 150 and that brought us back in the match.

Aaron Finch, losing skipper: It was embarrassing to be fair. We were outplayed. We tried to hit the ball too hard. This team hasn't been together for a long time and in future we will be better. I thought we bowled very well today. We kept them down to a good total. We need to do a little bit of work on our fielding. Our batting let us down today. They have a very good bowling attack and it's upto us to raise our game.

Imad Wasim, Man of the Match: My hard work paid off. It is never easy to make a comeback. I got unfit in PSL and after that I could only play in CPL and I played some domestic matches. I wanted to stick to my basics and wanted to target the stumps. I was lucky today that I got the wickets. All the training that I did has paid off. I want to carry this form.

23:10 Local Time, 19:10 GMT, 00:40 IST: A thumping victory for Pakistan. They have vindicated their number 1 ranking in this format. Australia were favorites at the start of the chase. But Imad Wasim, making a comeback in international cricket was at his very best and he picked up three wickets in his first spell. His bowling partner, Faheem Ashraf picked up 2 and Australia were 6 six down within the powerplay. None of the Australian batsmen showed application and match was literally over in the first five overs of the chase. Ashton Agar and Nathan Coulter-Nile forged a partnership of 38 runs to provide some respectability to the total. But they could not save Australia from the embarrassment of a massive defeat. Hang on for the presentations.

16.5 Shadab Khan to Coulter-Nile, out Bowled!! Shadab Khan goes through the defence of Coulter-Nile. And a comprehensive victory of 66 runs for Pakistan. It was a googly which pitched at the off-stump and spins in massively. Coulter-Nile went for an ugly heave across the line. The turn forces him to play it down the wrong line and it smashes his stumps. Bat slips in his hands too and it looked dramatic. Coulter-Nile b Shadab Khan 34(29) [4s-6]
