Profile
A slow left-arm orthodox spinner known for deceiving batsmen through his exceptional revs on the ball, Ravi Hasmukh Patel has played for a number of cricket clubs and has got a little over 80 first-class wickets. There have been quite a few spinners rising through the ranks in the England cricket team, hence Ravi Patel hasn't got the limelight he would have desired for. Initially when he broke into the scene, Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar were the prime spinners for England, whereas Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid have been the primary spinners of the country of late.

Patel has been one of those few players to have studied Economics at the esteemed Loughborough University. The left-arm spinner made his first-class debut way back in 2010 against Oxford MCCU. But with the arrival of Ollie Rayner, Ravi Patel took a back seat as the former brought in ample experience and wickets to his name. Ravi has represented Middlesex across all the three formats but his expensive economy in T20s was the reason he couldn't really cement a place in the playing XI in the preliminary years. However, he has been a regular part of the first-class and List A teams in the past one year. In the T20s, he bowls in the Powerplay and often gets wickets - that has made him a pivotal member of the team.

His best first-class figures of 12/173 came on a ranked turner, a match in which Middlesex faced a batting collapse not once but twice. And as a result of that defeat, Middlesex complained that the pitch wasn't fit for a first-class game. Though Patel bagged his first-class best figures in that match, he wasn't really satisfied with the result. Apart from playing cricket, Patel loves to travel and his favorite holiday destination is Las Vegas. Being a left-arm spinner himself, Patel idolizes Murali Kartik and considers Yasir Shah as the best spinner of this generation.
